About the BEEyond Trees Initiative
The BEEyond Trees Initiative combines ecosystem restoration with sustainable beekeeping and honey production to generate income opportunities for communities while enhancing environmental conservation efforts.
The program aims to build a thriving honey value chain that supports reforestation, biodiversity conservation, climate action, and rural economic development.
Job Purpose
The BEEyond Trees Coordinator will lead the design, implementation, and growth of the initiative across Tanzania.
The successful candidate will work closely with local communities, restoration teams, government stakeholders, and private-sector partners to establish sustainable beekeeping systems and develop profitable market opportunities for honey and related products.
Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership
Lead implementation of the BEEyond Trees initiative in Tanzania.
Coordinate field activities and ensure project objectives are achieved.
Develop strategies to strengthen conservation-based livelihood programs.
Beekeeping & Honey Value Chain Development
Establish and support sustainable apiculture systems.
Strengthen honey production, processing, and marketing activities.
Improve productivity and quality across the honey value chain.
Identify new market opportunities for honey and bee-related products.
Community Engagement & Capacity Building
Mobilize and engage local communities in project activities.
Conduct training programs on modern beekeeping practices.
Support community groups and producer organizations.
Promote knowledge sharing and best practices.
Enterprise Development
Support development of community-based conservation enterprises.
Facilitate business planning and market access initiatives.
Build partnerships with buyers, processors, and value chain actors.
Promote financial sustainability of project activities.
Environmental Conservation
Support ecosystem restoration and biodiversity conservation efforts.
Integrate sustainable livelihood activities into restoration programs.
Promote climate-smart natural resource management practices.
Strengthen community participation in conservation initiatives.
