Plan International Tanzania is inviting qualified professionals to apply for the position of Knowledge, Learning & Research Specialist, a strategic role aimed at strengthening evidence-based programming, organizational learning, and policy influence to advance children’s rights and gender equality.

Role Purpose

The Knowledge, Learning & Research Specialist plays a critical role in enhancing Plan International Tanzania’s impact, accountability, and influence. The position focuses on ensuring that high-quality evidence, learning, and research are systematically generated, documented, shared, and applied to improve programme quality and outcomes—particularly for girls and vulnerable children.

This role supports the development of a strong organizational learning culture, enabling adaptive programming and continuous improvement across priority thematic areas such as child protection, girls’ rights, gender equality, youth economic empowerment, climate resilience, and humanitarian response.

Key Responsibilities

Knowledge Management and Learning

  • Lead knowledge management practices within Plan International Tanzania and partner organizations

  • Strengthen systems for evidence generation, documentation, synthesis, and knowledge sharing

  • Promote the uptake of organizational standards for learning and knowledge sharing

Evidence and Research

  • Translate programme data, evaluations, and research into practical learning that improves programme quality

  • Identify learning agenda priorities and design case studies, rapid assessments, and learning documentation

  • Develop rapid-cycle learning briefs and implementation learning snapshots highlighting what works

Capacity Building and Collaboration

  • Build the capacity of project teams and partners in evidence documentation and learning

  • Work closely with Programme teams, MERL, Advisors, Policy, and Communications colleagues

  • Support evidence-based policy influence within and outside the organization
