Job Vacancy: Senior Officer – Monitoring & Evaluation – Equity Bank Tanzania

Equity Bank Tanzania Limited is looking for a Senior Officer – Monitoring & Evaluation to support the Food and Agriculture Pillar, including the SUSTAIN Project. This role is focused on designing and implementing high-quality Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, and Learning (MERL) systems to drive evidence-based decision-making and program improvement.

Job Purpose

The Senior Officer will coordinate MERL activities to ensure high-quality data collection and analysis. The position involves supporting country M&E teams, harmonizing frameworks across regions, and ensuring full compliance with donor and organizational standards.


Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • M&E Operationalization: Support M&E plans, logframe tracking, and the implementation of learning agendas.
  • Tool Development: Assist in creating and deploying data collection tools and protocols aligned with donor requirements.
  • Data Management: Coordinate routine data collection, verification, cleaning, and storage to maintain high integrity.
  • Systems Oversight: Manage digital data platforms (e.g., ODK, KoboToolbox, DMIS) and maintain project databases.
  • Reporting: Compile and analyze data for monthly, quarterly, and annual donor reports, including the creation of dashboards and factsheets.
  • Studies & Research: Support baseline, midline, and endline studies, including field implementation and tool development.
  • Learning & Compliance: Document lessons learned and success stories while ensuring compliance with data protection and ethical research standards.

Core Accountabilities and Deliverables

  • Clean, validated datasets and documented analysis outputs.
  • Data collection tools and analysis plans aligned with MERL frameworks.
  • High-quality analytical sections for program and donor reports.
  • Visual data products, such as charts, tables, and dashboards.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Monitoring & Evaluation, Statistics, Economics, Development Studies, Agriculture, or Social Sciences.
  • Experience: Minimum 4 years of progressive experience in MERL within development programs (agriculture or rural development preferred).
  • Donor Knowledge: Proven experience with donor-funded projects and their specific reporting requirements.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in statistical software (SPSS, Stata, R, Python, or Advanced Excel) and digital data collection platforms.
  • Visualization: Strong skills in data visualization tools like Power BI or Tableau.

Key Skills and Competencies

  • Strong quantitative and qualitative research capabilities.
  • Knowledge of results-based management and logical framework approaches.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
