Anulife Healthcare Ltd is inviting applications from qualified candidates for the position of Midwifery Nurse based in Dar es Salaam. The Midwifery Nurse will be responsible for providing comprehensive care to women throughout pregnancy, childbirth, and the postnatal period, ensuring the safety and well-being of both mothers and newborns.
The successful candidate will handle prenatal care, including:
Conducting routine antenatal check-ups
Monitoring the health of the mother and baby
Providing counselling on nutrition, lifestyle, and general prenatal care
Performing screening tests to identify potential risks or complications
During labour and delivery, the Midwifery Nurse will:
Assist women through the childbirth process
Monitor labour progress and maternal-fetal conditions
Conduct deliveries and manage complications when necessary
Postpartum care responsibilities include:
Providing care and support to mothers and newborns after delivery
Monitoring recovery and newborn well-being
Guiding mothers on breastfeeding, newborn care, and postpartum recovery
The role also involves family planning and reproductive health services:
Counselling patients on contraceptive options
Conducting gynecological examinations
Educating patients on sexual and reproductive health
In addition, the nurse will:
Educate and counsel patients on pregnancy, childbirth, and newborn care
Provide emotional support to women and their families
Collaborate with doctors, obstetricians, pediatricians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care
Refer patients to specialists when necessary
Record keeping and documentation responsibilities include:
Maintaining up-to-date patient records
Documenting all care provided
Ensuring compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements
Qualifications and Skills:
Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing with Midwifery certification
Relevant experience in midwifery or women’s health
Strong clinical competence
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Professionalism and attention to detail
The position is hospital-based and involves shift work, including weekends and on-call duties.
