Herocean Enterprises Ltd, a growing business in Tanzania, is seeking a qualified and experienced Tax Accountant to join its team in Dar es Salaam. This is a full-time position offering a salary range of TZS 500,000 – 600,000.
About the Role
The Tax Accountant will ensure full compliance with Tanzanian tax laws and provide reliable tax advisory support across the company. The role involves preparing and submitting tax returns, maintaining accurate tax records, liaising with auditors and TRA officials, supporting internal audits, and advising on tax implications of business decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare, review, and submit timely tax returns, including VAT, PAYE, corporate income tax, withholding taxes, and other statutory levies.
Monitor updates to Tanzanian tax legislation and advise management on compliance.
Maintain organized tax records for audits and TRA inspections.
Liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and TRA officials.
Support internal audit processes and implement tax-related internal controls.
Assist in preparing tax budgets and forecasting tax liabilities and cash flows.
Provide tax advisory support to departments on business decisions.
Reconcile tax accounts regularly and resolve discrepancies promptly.
Qualifications and Requirements
Tanzanian national
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Minimum of 2–5 years of experience in tax accounting, preferably in Tanzania or the East African region
Strong knowledge of Tanzanian tax laws, including Income Tax Act, VAT Act, and TRA guidelines
Proficiency in TRA e-filing and tax management systems
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Attention to detail and high integrity
Fluent in English and Swahili
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with multinational companies or cross-border tax matters
Familiarity with transfer pricing or international tax principles
