Organization Overview
The Zanzibar National Association of the Blind (ZANAB)
is a registered non-governmental organization operating in Zanzibar. It works
to strengthen and empower blind and visually impaired individuals by improving
their understanding of rights, needs, responsibilities, and entitlements. ZANAB
achieves this through awareness-raising, training, capacity building, and
advocacy.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Minimum
of a diploma or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related
field.
- At
least two (2) years of relevant work experience in accounting or finance.
- Good
knowledge of accounting principles and financial management.
- Proficiency
in computer applications, especially accounting software and Microsoft
Excel.
- High
level of integrity, accuracy, and ability to maintain financial confidentiality.
- Strong
written and spoken English communication skills.
- Ability
to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Previous
experience working with NGOs or Organizations of Persons with Disabilities
(OPDs) is an added advantage.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Financial Duties
- Assist
in recording and managing all financial transactions of ZANAB.
- Prepare
and maintain accurate records of income and expenditures.
- Support
the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Monitor
payments, invoices, and financial claims.
- Assist
in budget preparation and expenditure tracking.
- Support
audit processes in accordance with donor and organizational requirements.
- Ensure
proper filing and safe custody of all financial documents.
- Perform
any other accounting duties assigned by the Chief Accountant or ZANAB
management.
Administration Duties
- Provide
general administrative support to ZANAB office operations.
- Assist
in managing office records, correspondence, and documentation.
- Support
coordination of meetings, schedules, and official communications.
- Maintain
proper filing systems for administrative and financial records.
- Assist
in procurement processes and office supplies management.
- Support
human resource administrative tasks such as staff records and attendance.
- Perform
any other accounting and administrative duties assigned by the Chief
Accountant or ZANAB management.
