Doctors with Africa CUAMM, a leading NGO focused on healthcare in Sub-Saharan Africa, is seeking qualified Accountants to join its operations in Dodoma, Iringa, and Shinyanga. This is a roaster vacancy, meaning selected candidates will form a pool of professionals ready to be employed when project needs arise. CUAMM promotes long-term health cooperation projects, targeting vulnerable populations, particularly women and children, while strengthening local health systems.
Purpose of the Role: The Accountant will work closely with the Senior Accountant and Country Administrator to ensure proper administrative and financial management of CUAMM operations. The role ensures efficiency, transparency, and compliance with local and international regulations. The Accountant will manage accounting transactions, maintain documentation, and support the administrative team to guarantee efficient and effective use of financial resources.
Key Responsibilities
Administrative & Office Management:
Manage correspondence, filing systems, and official documentation to ensure smooth office administration
Assist the Country Administrator in meeting deadlines, handling payments, and liaising with local authorities on labor matters
Payroll & Employee Records:
Oversee payroll processes, attendance sheets, and employee records in compliance with local legislation
Manage Social Security Contributions, PAYE, and other statutory payments
Financial Accounting & Reporting:
Handle petty cash, bank transactions, and monthly payments including salaries and taxes
Maintain accurate accounting records, data entry, reconciliations, and financial documentation
Support monthly and year-end closings, preparing reports and documentation for internal and external audits
Ensure backup of Payroll IT System and maintain double-entry records in accounting software
Compliance & Coordination:
Ensure compliance with CUAMM procedures and local laws in financial, payroll, and HR matters
Support the Chief Accountant and Country Administrator in audit preparations, cost analyses, reconciliations, and project documentation
Provide guidance to office staff on financial accounting, payroll, and compliance
Hierarchical Relations:
First Supervisor: Senior Accountant
Second Supervisor: Project Manager
Third Supervisor: Country Administrator
Qualifications & Requirements
Relevant Accounting qualification (Degree or Diploma)
Experience in accounting, payroll, and financial reporting in organizations or NGOs
Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills
Ability to work effectively in a team and support administrative processes
