Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Relationship Management

The Head of Financial Institutions & DFIs will:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local and international banks, DFIs, MDBs, and institutional investors.
  • Expand the bank’s portfolio of financial institution partners across different regions and currencies.
  • Negotiate credit facilities, trade finance limits, guarantees, and other financial arrangements.
  • Promote cross-selling of banking products and services to institutional clients.
  • Act as the primary contact point for strategic financial institution relationships.

2. Funding and Capital Mobilization

The role involves:

  • Developing strategies for raising medium and long-term financing.
  • Managing borrowing relationships with DFIs and MDBs.
  • Leading end-to-end financing transactions, including due diligence, negotiations, approvals, and reporting.
  • Working with treasury teams to manage foreign exchange and interest rate risks.
  • Optimizing funding sources to support NMB Bank’s growth strategy.

3. Partnerships, Investments & Sustainable Finance

Key duties include:

  • Identifying investment opportunities with international financial institutions.
  • Facilitating strategic partnerships and potential equity collaborations.
  • Supporting capital market transactions, bonds, and investment initiatives.
  • Monitoring global development finance trends and identifying opportunities for collaboration.
  • Strengthening NMB’s position in sustainable finance and impact investment.

4. Technical Assistance & Thought Leadership

The successful candidate will:

  • Secure technical assistance grants and capacity-building programs from development partners.
  • Coordinate advisory programs, training opportunities, and institutional knowledge-sharing initiatives.
  • Represent NMB Bank in international conferences, forums, and financial sector events.
  • Develop success stories and case studies showcasing the bank’s impact and innovation.

5. Risk, Compliance & Operational Management

Responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring compliance with AML, KYC, and international due diligence standards.
  • Managing correspondent banking requirements, Nostro and Vostro accounts.
  • Preparing credit proposals and institutional limit recommendations.
  • Ensuring timely fulfillment of financing obligations and contractual covenants.
  • Coordinating meetings with local and international financial partners.

Leadership & Team Management

The Head of Financial Institutions and DFIs will:

  • Lead and implement the department’s strategic objectives.

Qualifications and Experience
