Main Purpose of the Role
The Technical Lead – RMNCAH will provide overall technical leadership for Americares’ integrated maternal health programme, focusing on maternal and newborn health, family planning, obstetric fistula prevention and treatment, and mental health and psychosocial support.
The role involves guiding project design, ensuring quality implementation, strengthening health facilities, mentoring healthcare providers, and collaborating with government health authorities, hospitals, community organizations, and implementing partners to deliver sustainable healthcare solutions.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Technical Leadership and Programme Quality
The successful candidate will:
Lead the planning and implementation of integrated RMNCAH interventions.
Strengthen quality improvement systems including MPDSR and maternal death reviews.
Develop clinical guidelines, work plans, and technical strategies.
Support healthcare worker training, mentorship, and supportive supervision.
Improve referral systems and emergency obstetric care pathways.
Promote innovative approaches to improve maternal and newborn healthcare.
2. Partnership, Advocacy and Health Systems Strengthening
Responsibilities include:
Collaborating with Regional and Council Health Management Teams (R/CHMTs).
Working closely with referral hospitals, civil society organizations, and community structures.
Representing Americares in technical working groups and stakeholder meetings.
Supporting development of national strategies, guidelines, and healthcare standards.
3. Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning and Reporting
The Technical Lead will:
Monitor programme performance and health outcomes.
Use data to improve decision-making and service quality.
Document lessons learned, innovations, and best practices.
Prepare technical reports and support dissemination of programme achievements.
Education and Professional Experience Required
Applicants should possess:
Education
Advanced Degree in Medicine, Nursing, Public Health, or a related discipline.
Master’s Degree in Obstetrics & Gynecology, Public Health, or a relevant field is highly preferred.
Experience
Candidates must have:
A minimum of 10 years of senior-level experience managing RMNCAH programmes.
Strong knowledge of maternal and newborn healthcare quality improvement.
Experience working with government health systems, referral hospitals, and NGOs.
Proven ability to mentor healthcare workers and lead multidisciplinary teams.
Experience integrating MHPSS and obstetric fistula services is an added advantage.
