HelpAge Tanzania (HAT) is
a national non-governmental organization registered in Tanzania Mainland under
the Non-Governmental Organizations Act of 2022 and compliant in Zanzibar under
the Business Entities Registration Act No. 12 of 2012.

Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar.
HelpAge Tanzania is seeking to recruit qualified,
competent, and motivated candidate to fill the following position:

Duty Station: Kigoma
Region – Kibondo Field Office (Nduta and Nyarugusu Refugee Camps and
Host Communities)
Job Purpose:
The Social Worker will support the identification,
case management, and protection of Persons with Specific Needs (PSNs),
including older women and men, persons with disabilities, and their immediate
family members, in refugee camps and host communities. The role focuses on
improving protection outcomes, dignity, and wellbeing through routine home
visits, psychosocial support, referrals, and community-based protection
(CBP) mechanisms that strengthen family, peer, and community support systems.
The position requires strong experience in GBV case
management. The Social Worker will conduct all steps of the GBV case management
process for assigned survivors and individuals at risk, in line with
survivor-centered principles, inter-agency GBV standards, and national referral
pathways, while embedding GBV prevention and response within wider CBP
structures and community accountability systems. The role may be
Centre-based or implemented through mobile outreach.
PERSONAL SPECIFICATIONS
Essential
- Bachelor’s
degree or Diploma in Social Work, Community Development, Sociology,
Community Psychology, or a related field.
- Minimum
of two years’ experience in social work, protection, GBV response, or
health programming.
- Demonstrated
experience in GBV case management.
- Strong
understanding of protection principles, human rights, and humanitarian
standards, including community-based protection approaches.
- Ability
to prepare clear and accurate reports.
- Basic
computer skills, including MS Word and Excel
- Strong
communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability
to work effectively in a team and with diverse communities.
- Proficiency
in spoken and written English.
Desirable
- Experience
working with refugee or displacement-affected populations.
- Ability
to speak Kirundi and/or French
